Google is pleased to announce the commencement of application for the Google Policy Fellowship for West Africa (Nigeria), Eastern Africa (Kenya, Tanzania), Southern Africa (South Africa, Zambia) and Francophone Africa.

Le programme Google Fellowship sur les politiques offre aux étudiants de premier cycle, des cycles supérieurs et de droit intéressés par l'Internet et la politique technologique la possibilité de passer l'été à contribuer au dialogue public sur ces questions et à explorer les futurs intérêts académiques et professionnels.

Les boursiers auront l'occasion de travailler dans des organismes d'intérêt public à la fine pointe de la politique d'accès, de la réglementation du contenu, du droit d'auteur et de la créativité, de la confidentialité, du gouvernement ouvert, de la surveillance gouvernementale, de la sécurité des données.

Les boursiers se verront attribuer un mentor principal dans leurs organisations hôtes et auront l'occasion de travailler avec plusieurs membres du personnel supérieur au cours de l'été. Les boursiers seront appelés à apporter une contribution substantielle au travail de leur organisation, notamment en effectuant des recherches et des analyses stratégiques, en rédigeant des rapports et des livres blancs, en assistant à des réunions et à des conférences gouvernementales et industrielles et en participant à d'autres activités.

Exigences:

Google est à la recherche d'étudiants passionnés par la technologie et qui souhaitent passer l'été à plonger tête première dans la politique Internet. Les étudiants de toutes les majors et les programmes d'études qui possèdent les qualités suivantes sont encouragés à postuler:

  • Engagement démontré ou déclaré envers Internet et la politique technologique
  • Excellent dossier scolaire, activités professionnelles / parascolaires / bénévoles, expertise en la matière
  • Excellente capacité d'analyse, de communication, de recherche et d'écriture
  • Capacité de gérer plusieurs projets simultanément et efficacement, et de travailler intelligemment et ingénieusement dans un environnement où les activités se déroulent à un rythme rapide

Les boursiers recevront une allocation de USD 7,500 dans 2018.

Successful applicants to the program will have the opportunity to work at public interest organizations at the forefront of debates on internet policy issues. They will be assigned a mentor at their host organizations and will have the opportunity to work with senior staff members. Fellows will be expected to make substantive contributions to the work of their organization, including conducting policy research and analysis, drafting reports and white papers, attending government and industry meetings and conferences, and participating in other advocacy activities.

The work of the fellows is decided between the individuals and the organizations. Google provides a small stipend during the period of the fellowship, but is not involved in defining or conducting the research.

Typically, the fellows are young graduates who are in the early stage of their career. The organisations in the program are looking for individuals who are passionate about technology, and want to gain experience of working on public policy, irrespective of their course of study.

Applicants must possess:

  • Excellent dossier scolaire, activités professionnelles / parascolaires / bénévoles, expertise en la matière
  • First-rate analytical, communications, research, and writing skills Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently, and to work smartly and resourcefully in a fast-paced environment.

The program will run for six to twelve months, with exact duration varying by organization. Fellowship will commence by December 1, 2018.
